Sharing data separately with multiple external users

We have customers who require monthly reports to be provided to them.

Currently we use a clunky in-house PHP driven webserver where users log in and retrieve their reports or even upload files. Management of external users via htpasswd files is a nightmare of course and we are looking to set up something a little better structured.

The internal suggestion is for a Filecloud instance using team folders to separate customers from each other. What do people think?

Hello Michael,

You can create folders under the Team Folder and share them individually with other users to access them.

However, if you plan to share the folders to Limited User types, you can not create a share from the Admin Portal with Limited User types.

Team Folders can not be shared with Limited Users directly from Admin Portal. You need to share it with a Full User account first; then, the Full User needs to share the folders to individual Limited User accounts.

A suggestion would be to create a parent folder “Extern Users” in Team Folder, then share it with a Full User account in charge of external users/share. Then this Full User creates multiple folders under the “External Users” Team Folder directory and shares the folders with individual external users.

Thanks for that. I think I now have a vague plan for replacing our clunky in-house solution to sharing various reports and information with our customers. It seems Filecloud will be almost the perfect solution as it combines ease of access with security of the data.
