Windows Sync client: network folder sync exclude single subfolders / files

Christian Schlosser shared this idea 8 months ago
Under Consideration

When a user adds a network folder for syncing there is no possibility to exclude certain subfolder (e.g. large folders that should not be synced). Only option is to manually add all subfolder except the ones that should not be synced.

Practical problem: when you have a folder with 50 subfolders and you need to exclude 2 subfoders for syncing the only option you now have is to manually add the 48 subfolders. Better option would be to add the folder for syncing and have an option to exclude specific files and/or subdirectories from sync.

2nd'd.

I've suggested this some time ago. The selective folder funcion is in need of a major overhaul. Not alone is the current view not very intuitive; it's clunky and slow and needs to be more seamless like that of the ownCloud client where users can with ease see how big a folder is and simply remove a checkmark next to the folder that the user wants de-synced - but another problem is that the moment an admin pushes a certain client configuration, the user loses the ability to selective sync, resulting in a beautiful application freeze.
